arno11on n900 that is14:02
freemangordonarno11: could you update/upgrade and test SIP/XMPP calls on n900?14:43
freemangordon*incoming*14:43
freemangordonok, with empathy I am able to place a call from within lest VM, so it is some issue in VCM15:05

arno11have to go, ttyl15:22
doncGreetings!   I'm trying to configure the latest ofono package.  First error was 'glib-2.0 >=  2.32  required' but I have2.67 (i think) and it turns out if I install glib-dev it solves that problem.  Now it's 'd-bus >= 1.6 required' and I have 1.12 and haven't found a solution so I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with the problem/solution.16:37
gnarfacedonc: like with any debian derivative, the build headers are in separate packages from the runtime binaries, usually the package name is the same as the runtime package but with "-dev" appended16:44
gnarfaceoh, hmm, i don't see a dbus-dev in the repos though... i wonder where it would be16:45
gnarfacedonc: oh, try this "apt-get install build-dep ofono"16:46
gnarfacesee what that pulls in16:46
donccool, thx, i'll give it a try16:46
gnarfaceeven if you're trying to build some other version of ofono, it might have the same deps16:46
gnarfaceor at least mostly the same...16:47
gnarfaceit might be possible you actually have to build a newer dbus first, but i've never tried this so i don't know for sure16:48
doncbuild-dep not found but isn't 1.12 > 1.6?16:49
gnarfaceoh, yea, you're right. i misread that16:49
gnarfacehmm, sorry it's early, try "apt-get build-dep ofono"16:49
doncis it a path thing?16:49
doncthat package wasn't found by apt16:50
gnarfacehmm, ofono? that's odd, i see it in devuan...16:50
doncis it build-dep-ofono?16:51
gnarfacewell, could be a path thing in theory16:51
gnarfaceno, "build-dep" is a command like "install" but it installs the build dependencies of a package instead of the package, but it only works if the package exists16:52
doncthe only thing is is does't say d-bus not found16:52
gnarfacei'm pulling from generic debian and devuan knowledge here, i haven't tried this on maemo-leste16:52
gnarfaceshouldn't be too different though, i don't think16:54
gnarfacewait, did you try "apt-get build-dep ofono" or did you do "apt build-dep ofono" ? it might matter16:54
gnarfacemaybe try "apt-get update" once first to make sure your index cache is up-to-date16:55
doncapt-get, i know there is some difference but don't remeber16:55
gnarface"apt-cache search ofono" returns nothing?16:56
donci use synaptic too to see options and can't find build-dep16:56
gnarfacethat's because build-dep isn't an actual package16:56
gnarfacethough, synaptic might just call it something else? i don't use it16:57
gnarfacethe man page for apt seems to be telling me the apt equivalent to "build-dep" would be "satisfy"16:57
donci didn't do apt-get update, so doing now16:57
gnarfacesometimes if your cache gets too old it just can't find stuff16:58
doncpkgmaster is not valid for another 12 minutes16:58
gnarfaceif you use aptitude instead, it updates the cache automatically every time you run it16:58
gnarfacenot valid for another 12 minutes???? that sounds like your system clock is grievously wrong16:58
doncyeah but everying is pretty recent witht the work im doing lately16:58
doncahh, i see im half hour off16:59
gnarfacethat might screw with the repo signatures16:59
gnarfaceif you don't want to run ntpd (and on a phone i wouldn't blame you) you can just run "ntpdate" to fix the clock on a one-off basis17:00
gnarfacethough, if you don't have it installed already you might need to fix the clock manually first...17:01
doncI need to install htpdate to get auto clock update.  My provider may be blocking the other apparently17:04
gnarfacehow annoying17:07
doncall up to date and apt-get can't find 'build-dep'17:07
gnarfaceweird17:10
gnarfacecan it find ofono?17:10
doncso i finally did 'apt-cache search ofono' and got a list of items.  I'm not sure which might be istalled17:10
gnarfacedpkg -l |grep ofono17:11
gnarfacedpkg -l lists installed packages17:11
doncbut is see 'ofono-dev'17:11
doncill do the list17:11
doncseems 'ofono-dev' is a good start.  It's not installed17:13
gnarfaceprobably can't hurt17:18
doncI found and install libgofono-dev and ofono-dev but the d-bus is still an issue17:23
gnarfacetry installing libdbus-1-dev17:24
gnarface(this tip brought to you from the linux mint forums, lol)17:24
gnarfacei forgot about that, sometimes it's a lib*-dev package17:25
sicelo`apt-get build-dep ofono` didn't work?17:26
gnarfaceit might now, if ofono is showing up...17:27
donccool, that solve the dbus issue, but now its 'libudev'17:27
gnarfacedonc: the first time you tried "apt-get build-dep ofono" it said it couldn't find ofono right? that might work now17:28
gnarfaceit would seem weird for it not to, but i'm not clear on what changed...17:28
gnarfacelibudev-dev is a package, but you probably want to make sure whether you're using udev or eudev, since they have different dev packages17:29
doncno it couldn't find 'build-dev'17:29
donci see libudev-dev is transitional17:30
doncfor libeudev-dev17:31
doncnot sure which to try17:31
sicelobtw, https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-6.12-DRM-Panic-QR-Code17:32
sicelodonc: apt-get build-dep ofono is best way .. just try it again17:32
gnarfaceoh17:33
gnarfacedonc: build-dep not build-dev, maybe this was a typo?17:34
gnarfacethat would explain it17:34
doncit stay 'you must put some deb-src URIs in sources list17:34
gnarfaceoh man, sorry17:34
gnarfaceyou totally showed the sources.list and i forgot17:34
gnarfaceskimmed that part17:34
gnarfaceyea, each of those lines needs a corresponding line that's identical except that it starts with "deb-src" instead of just "deb"17:35
gnarfaceor... wait17:36
gnarfaceno you didn't, i'm getting two conversations in two different channels confused17:36
gnarfacesorry, i'll walk away now, lol17:36
donchaha, so, src in sources list?17:36
gnarfaceyea, every deb line needs an identical deb-src line17:36
gnarfaceyou only need the deb-src lines if you're building stuff17:37
doncyeah, I shoulda remember that17:37
doncso "...devuan-src.org/merged..."?17:39
gnarfaceno, not the domain17:39
gnarfacedeb http://deb.devuan.org/merged daedalus main17:40
gnarfacedeb-src http://deb.devuan.org/merged daedalus main17:40
gnarfacelike this17:40
gnarface(sorry, not literally... those were pasted from actual devuan)17:40
gnarfacebut you see how it has deb and deb-src at the start of the lines?17:40
gnarfacedeb http://deb.devuan.org/merged daedalus-updates main17:40
gnarfacedeb-src http://deb.devuan.org/merged daedalus-updates main17:40
gnarfaceetc...17:40
gnarfacedeb http://deb.devuan.org/merged daedalus-security main17:40
gnarfacedeb-src http://deb.devuan.org/merged daedalus-security main17:40
doncyeah, lemme digest17:40
gnarfacetranspose that to whatever maemo is using17:41
gnarfacei really shouldn't be giving tech support here17:41
gnarfacebut this is all generic to any debian derivative... even mint and ubuntu do it this way17:41
doncyeah, i remeber now.  I ran debian for years17:42
doncthe brown font for "deb" on the PP nano screen makes the incognito to my brain17:46
doncI have been trying "build-dep" despite my typo here earlier.  I duplicated each line in sources.list and added -src to each copy yet apt-get is "unable to locate package build-dep"17:59
doncsicelo: I'm looking at the link but don't see the "build-dep" connection sorry18:01
gnarfacedonc: you're sure you're doing "apt-get build-dep ofono" not "apt-get install build-dep ofono" still?18:05
gnarfacebecause the latter one was my mistake, and would absolutely be expected to give you the error that it can't find the package build-dep, since build-dep is not a package18:05
gnarfaceit's a command, like install18:06
gnarfaceyou only use one at a time18:06
doncthat's it, i was putting "install"18:07
gnarfacenow, one thing you probably want to do if you haven't, is run "apt-get install build-essential"18:07
gnarfacebuild-essential is a package... sorta18:08
gnarfaceit's not required, but it might catch a bunch of stuff that doesn't show up in build-dep18:09
gnarfacegeneric build dependencies shared by everything18:09
doncyeah, i have a boat load of those installs, looks like it's cooking, thanks much18:09
gnarfacegood luck with it18:09
doncconfig finished but complained about no systemd18:10
gnarfacehah18:10
gnarfaceif you run "./configure --help" in the build directory, do any of the options look like "--without-systemd" or something like that?18:11
doncand that's precisely why i'm here Hah18:11
gnarfaceah i see18:11
gnarfacethat one, i don't know about18:11
gnarfacesomeone around here certainly does though18:11
gnarfacemaybe you need a patch or maybe there's a simple change18:11
donchopefully it works without more config we'll see18:12
sicelofar from pc, but iirc there's a bootstrap-configure script there19:22
sicelorun it with --help to see the correct switch with  "systemd" in it (i  think  '--with-sytemdunitdir'). set it to /no19:23
sicelothen just run make19:23
doncsicelo: thanks, i'll look for it.  Right now  there is a missing file in the ell-pkg but I'm on a break from the building for a few20:04
sicelook. just get out of the root ofono directory. clone ell (git.kernel.org/pub/scm/libs/ell.git iirc). when you go back to ofono dir, it should build20:08
uvosWizzup: freemangordon: who dose the blinking update notification icon?22:54
Wizzupham notifies23:20
Wizzupnotifier*23:20
uvosWizzup: i cant find the code for this23:20
uvostheres something wrong with this plugin23:20
uvosi have repeatbly noticed that the device uses a fair bit more power while its active23:21
arno11apt-worker is running at the same time, no ?23:32
arno11it uses at least 300mA on n900 lol23:43
uvosno23:49
uvosi mean forever23:49
uvosalong after worker exits23:49
uvoslike i will have the device sitting around23:50
uvosand i come back to it and see it has not  been ideling for hours with this notification thing up23:50
uvosi have the suspician that its refeshing the blinking icon even when the display is off ro soemthing like  this23:50
arno11oh23:51
