freemangordontmlind: I see around 100 mW higher power usage on 6.12(I started from clean pvrsrvkm-6.12, as I want to clean-up the patch mess). I think I pulled all the relevant patches, but as soon as I modprobe mdm6600 phy, usage increases from ~100 mW to ~ 200mW, on leste with wifi on. any idea where to look at?08:29
freemangordonalso, I see couple of ehci-omap patches from you , why are they needed?08:30
freemangordonMind you, I didn't pull serdev-ngsm patches, but that should not increase power usage, no.09:09
tmlindfreemangordon: on modprobe mdm6600 phy driver powers up the modem, it should idle after a few minutes, if not, see if touch /dev/ttyUSB4 idles thing11:06
tmlindfreemangordon: the ehci-omap changes are for the mdm9600 on the mz617 tablets11:06
mkfhello!11:31
mkfgot leste running on a23 tablet11:31
mkftouch doesnt work11:32
mkfhow can one extract touch firmware (it lacks android, but i've got the images)11:34
Wizzupmkf: nice going, what steps did you take so far?11:39
Wizzupit is possible our kernel doesn't have the ts driver11:40
Wizzup(that you need)11:40
mkfcompiled uboot, used linux-sunxi kernel. :(11:40
mkfgrabbed sunxi image from downloaded, glue'd with linux-sunxi and uboot11:41
mkfi've disabled wifi in uboot (i think?) dts but not sure if effects linux.11:43
Wizzupsunxi kernel being 3.4?11:46
freemangordonmkf: you should boot android to get TS firmware11:47
freemangordontmlind: idles after few minutes? hmm11:48
freemangordonok, lemme wait a bit longer11:48
WizzupI think he said he didn't have a working android11:49
freemangordonah11:49
mkfwizzup: 5.811:50
mkffreemangordon: yeah, volume buttons are borken, android doesn't boot and i can't get it into fel mode to flash another android.11:51
freemangordonlemme try to remember what I did back then11:51
freemangordonmkf: do you know TS model?11:54
mkfno :(11:55
mkfit's a q8h v1.5 if that helps11:55
mkfoh11:56
freemangordonok, but you should see it in dmesg11:56
mkfsunxi wiki says it's  Touchscren: GSL168011:56
freemangordonperfect11:56
freemangordonnow, in dmesg, which FW file it tries to load?11:56
mkfhm11:56
mkflemme take a video, since i dont have uart either.11:57
freemangordonyou should see something like GSL1680E_700_FW.fw11:57
freemangordonmkf: https://github.com/onitake/gslx680-acpi11:58
freemangordonhttps://github.com/onitake/gsl-firmware/tree/master/firmware :)11:58
mkfwonderful. :)11:58
mkfokay, let me recompile stuff12:00
freemangordonrecompile? why?12:00
freemangordonyou didn;t enable TS driver?12:00
mkfapperently not.12:01
freemangordonheh :)12:01
Wizzupmkf: oh, sunxi kernel being the one on m-l github?12:03
mkfhttps://github.com/linux-sunxi/linux-sunxi12:18
mkfbtw did you guys got your screen working without issues on mainline?12:19
freemangordonhaven't try for a while, but I had to patch simple-panel back then to have it working properly12:25
mkfhow did it behaved otherwise?12:27
mkfhttps://cloud9p.org/usr/mkf/tmp/a23-screen.mp4 <- here is what i get via mainline kernel (with no patches)12:28
freemangordonyep, exactly the same :)12:29
freemangordonlemme try to find the patch12:29
freemangordonmkf: https://pastebin.com/8SCYXTQj12:40
freemangordondts shall be patches too, but I can;t find what I did back then12:41
freemangordonalso, this is for my tablet, yours may differ12:41
freemangordonalso, make sure you have panel-simple enabled12:41
mkffreemangordon: mine seems to be 800 480, should i change the values?12:55
freemangordonthen perhaps you don't need the patch at all13:09
freemangordonjust make sure panel-simple is enabled in config13:09
freemangordonand that there is (enabled) panel in board dts13:09
freemangordonif that does not help, maybe ask on #linux-sunxi13:10
freemangordonBTW, if you can open it, there is a chance that panel model is written on it13:11
mkfdoesn't work. :(13:39
mkfit shows one frame after like 2 minutes once kernel is loaded13:39
mkfbut that's it13:39
freemangordonask for help on #linux-sunxi14:11
freemangordonBTW, you enabled lima, right?14:11
tmlindfreemangordon: hmm unlikely but maybe some ngsm uart features are also needed to idle the modem?14:19
freemangordonyeah14:19
freemangordonmayeb14:19
freemangordonok, will pull them as well14:20
mkffreemangordon: no lima.14:24
mkfhow to do so?14:24
mkfWizzup, freemangordon: any idea how to get a shell or something over usb port in allwinner?15:58
freemangordonno, sorry16:09
freemangordonmkf: really, you should ask on #linux-sunxi, usually you get answers there, I can be of little help as it was more than 2 years I played with allwinner16:11
mkfokay, thank you. :)16:21
mkfoh17:00
mkfi think i've got it now17:00
mkfwhere should i install the kernel modules? /lib/modules?17:05
freemangordonmhm17:05
freemangordonwell...17:05
freemangordon/lib/modules/$kernel_release17:05
mkfit's been a while since i used linux, so sorry for stupid questions. :)17:06
freemangordonI usually do make -j4 modules_install INSTALL_MOD_PATH=../ INSTALL_MOD_STRIP=1 on the host17:06
freemangordonwhich installs them in ../lib/modules/...17:06
mkfah.17:06
freemangordonand then copy from there to the target17:06
freemangordondo you build on device?17:07
mkfno, but my build system is a bit cursed.17:07
mkfcan i add the fw to the kernel image somehow?17:09
freemangordonno idea, but why don;t just copy it to rootfs?17:13
mkfdone that. not sure why it still doesn't work. :(17:16
freemangordon"it"? display? TS?17:25
mkfTS. display works perfectly.17:28
freemangordondmesg?17:28
freemangordonthis is with mainline kernel?17:29
freemangordon6.12?17:29
mkfcan't get a dmesg, basically the only input method i have atm is power button. :)17:30
freemangordoncool17:30
freemangordonmorse?17:30
mkfi'll prob. get a better soldering iron tomrrow and try to get a uart soldered on it.17:30
freemangordoncould you try to capture a video?17:31
freemangordonalso, if it has usb bort, perhaps you can enable host mode on it17:31
freemangordonand attach a keyboard17:31
freemangordon*usb port17:31
mkfwill the module be loaded in early boot or late boot?17:32
mkfby late i mean after open rc17:33
freemangordonyou can make it build-in in zImage if you have concerns17:33
mkfbeause before open rc it's too fast, (even slow mo can't capture it properly)17:33
freemangordonah, sorry17:33
freemangordondidn't get the queston17:33
freemangordonyou should really enable usb dual role and attach a keyboard17:34
mkfhm.17:34
mkfthis is linux-sunxi btw.17:35
freemangordonstill17:35
mkfand as for usb, it doesn't seem to work either.17:35
freemangordonusb host mode was working properly with my A3317:35
mkfsunxi_defconfig should have it enabled, right?17:35
freemangordonno17:35
freemangordonIIRC17:36
freemangordonand you need uUSB cable with proper ID pin17:36
mkfok.17:36
mkfi have bunch of otg cables/hubs that worked fine with pi17:36
mkfso hopefully they will  work17:36
freemangordonthey should17:36
mkfhm17:48
mkfrecompiled kernel with otg, with no avail.17:48
freemangordontmlind: please have a look if I am missing something obvious https://github.com/maemo-leste/droid4-linux/commits/leste/maemo-6.12.y-wip/17:49
mkfoh20:53
mkfkernel saves dmesg automatically.20:54
mkfcool.20:54
mkf[   12.472346] silead_ts 0-0040: Direct firmware load for silead/gsl1688.fw failed with error -221:30
mkfwoohoo \o/21:30
mkfgot it to work! :D21:54
mkfor i believe so?21:55
mkfit's quite a bit slow. how can i enable lima?21:56
Wizzupif you have a dts we can make leste imgs22:03
mkfi have a dts. (from mainline)22:04
mkftho kernel isnt from mainline (yet), due to simplefb issues?22:05
mkfis there an image somewhere with ready to use lima?22:13
WizzupI think our kernel has lima22:34
arno11maybe xorg conf is wrong, no ?22:38
freemangordontmlind: ok, after pulling serdev_ngsm patches power usage seems back to normal, however, I wonder why+22:51
