| onefang | Hippy Gnu Ear! Only slightly more on topic. B-) | 02:12 |
| onefang | Actually I have a plan to make a Devuan based music production flavour. I was planning on calling it EARS, but now I'm thinking I should add the Le Binuio visualiser and call it Hippy Gnu EARS. | 02:16 |
| onefang | Guess that means I'll have to release a new version once a year in very early January. | 02:18 |
| lolzinternet | I would love to have clementine visualizations right now | 02:18 |
| lolzinternet | but I couldn't get them to run | 02:18 |
| * golinux wonders if the wiki is still on pnefang's agenda . . . | 02:18 | |
| lolzinternet | Hippy GNU Ear to you as well xD | 02:18 |
| golinux | Thread is getting OT . . . | 02:19 |
| lolzinternet | hi golinux | 02:19 |
| lolzinternet | hope you are doing well | 02:19 |
| * golinux growls . . . | 02:19 | |
| onefang | Yep, been working on Wiki stuff all SIlly Season. | 02:19 |
| golinux | Nothing on that channel though . . . | 02:20 |
| golinux | I was beginning to wonder . . . | 02:21 |
| onefang | Too busy working on it to chat about it. | 02:22 |
| golinux | Sadly we are not mind-readers so were beginning to wonder . . . | 02:23 |
| onefang | You can always ask, as you did now. | 02:23 |
| golinux | Will be nice to start 2025 with a revamped wiki! | 02:24 |
| golinux | I don't like to backseat drive . . . | 02:25 |
| golinux | Looking forward to seeing it! | 02:25 |
| onefang | Basically it's a wicked problem. You saw me document it in my audit, which measured the size and hairiness of our wiki hairball. Now that's measured, it's mostly under the hood work to get things untangled. | 02:42 |
| onefang | I should have something to show before I turn 64 later this month. Until then, there's a Beatles song to listen to - "When I'm 64". | 02:50 |
| onefang | So you heard a lot from me in the beginning, now you'll just hear the occasional grunting and some swearing. | 03:00 |
| Xenguy | "When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now..." | 03:06 |
| onefang | "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four?" | 03:11 |
| onefang | I suspect Devuan will still need me by the end of the month. | 03:11 |
| gnarface | which wiki software is it using? | 03:12 |
| onefang | That's a big part of the problem. Foswiki AND PmWIki. I'm trying to combine them, they don't wanna. | 03:13 |
| onefang | https://wiki.devuan.org/?n=Main.WikiAudit if you want the gory details. | 03:14 |
| onefang | Quick summary of what I've been up to under the hood. Created infrastructure and automation scripting for the combined system. Half way through automating the actual conversion from Foswiki and PmWiki syntax to a common markup syntax, which will then be dumped into this infrastructure. The common markup can later be converted into almost anything by pandoc, and modules can be added to Foswiki and PmWiki to import that common markup sy | 04:00 |
| onefang | ntax. Pandoc is needed anyway as the only way to export content from either system is to pass the resulting HTML through pandoc to create the common markup syntax. Which is messy, but works. | 04:00 |
| onefang | Sysadmin and programming is not a spectator sport. lol | 04:01 |
| ted-ious | onefang: What is this common markup syntax and how did you get it to go into pandoc? | 06:31 |
| ted-ious | I guess you only want to scrape the current version of the pages and migrate them instead of trying to preserve edit history? | 06:54 |
| KuLuSz | hi evrybody | 06:57 |
| KuLuSz | anyone here ? | 06:57 |
| KuLuSz | i have issue at booting persistence mode on ntfs partition, in devuan daedalus... | 06:59 |
| KuLuSz | i was made my script to build it with debootstrap, and | 06:59 |
| KuLuSz | when live system is boot up | 07:00 |
| KuLuSz | the persistence file mounted as (ro) in /lib/live/mount/rootfs... | 07:01 |
| KuLuSz | i dont know where is the problem :( | 07:02 |
| rrq | maybe you need use a different filesystem type; e.g. ext4 | 07:26 |
| KuLuSz | I know it's not advisable to use linux on an ntfs file system, but that's all I need to be happy :D | 07:32 |
| KuLuSz | the partition is mounted as rw ... | 07:36 |
| KuLuSz | i was try remount the persistence file but i get : write protect error | 07:36 |
| rrq | good luck | 07:42 |
| KuLuSz | thankyou :D | 07:42 |
| ted-ious | Trying to run devuan on an ntfs partition? | 08:48 |
| ted-ious | Is that real? | 08:48 |
| ted-ious | Either that was a troll or that poor person is going to have a very bad time. | 08:48 |
| onefang | Sorry ted-ious, I had been AFK for a while. Might be best to take wiki talk to #devuan-wiki. But the quick answer to your question is - whatever pandoc can put out, for now CommonMark since it's trying to be the standard, and close enough to most of the MarkDown type syntaxes. There's waaay too many wiki syntaxes. | 09:11 |
| onefang | Gathering the content together is the priority. If other things like edit history can come along, then fine. | 09:14 |
| paculino | Home being ntfs isn't so bad at least. Boot drive will have issues | 09:28 |
| Darthix | hello. can someone help me figure out what is the difference between closing the laptop lid, regarding locking the screen, and clicking the lock screen option in XFCE? | 23:40 |
| Darthix | sorry, I meant the option suspend in XFCE menu | 23:41 |
| Darthix | the reason for the question is: when I click suspend then my XFCE session locks properly and suspends, and on resume I am presented with a locked screen where I enter my password | 23:41 |
| Darthix | but if I just close the lid, on resume I get a "locked" screen which is like a screenshot of my desktop. it's locked but I can't see where I am entering my password and I am unsure where the bug is: in XFCE or in Devuan or in my settings | 23:43 |
| gnarface | Darthix: stick around, someone can probably help with that. which video hardware and driver combo you're using is possibly relevant, as is the laptop model itself. | 23:55 |
