WizzupI wonder if I tried the droid3 with the gpu driver not loaded06:20
uvos__Wizzup: you think its sgx?11:59
uvos__Wizzup: but that would be really wierd, since its the exact same sgx core revision as d411:59
Wizzupuvos__: I think it might be17:51
Wizzupuvos__: at least the 'recovery mode' doesn't hang17:51
Wizzupas far as I remember17:51
piggzhi, ive a question about you pinephone port ... why is the alsa UCM config _so_ different from upstream? is there some thought/documentation about it and the settings?19:53
inkyhello, piggz. i am not from maemo team. i packaged amazfish and you helped me. thank you for  your great work on many projects.19:56
Wizzuppiggz: good question, I think we got this from rafael2k (one of the guys who worked on it), what is the upstream version so that I can compare?19:59
piggzWizzup: https://github.com/alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf/blob/a77c0d40d2cca079de8aba2924cb64549b217809/ucm2/Allwinner/A64/PinePhone/VoiceCall.conf20:14
piggzand the files in there20:14
sicelopiggz: i think it's what was there at the time. the PP ucm config keeps changing20:15
piggzi asl because one of my users claims mamo has better sound quality that sailfish, so i wonder if there is something fundamentally different20:16
siceloand yes, iirc even pmOS (who have the highest number of pinephone users,, i guess) doesn't use the upstream ucm, although i believe they're trying to reduce the diff20:17
siceloah interesting @ good sounds20:17
doncHey guys, having started anew trying to dial-out using Leste on the Pinephone I wanted to share my current status.  Having discovered ofono scripts I had high hopes of finding the answer but no.  I think the apn name is the issue for no data and the command to set it requires the PATH variable.  When I use the modem system PATH retreived using  an info script I get an error stating the PATH contains an illegal character "."21:40
Wizzupdonc: what issue are you trying to solve in particular?21:43
doncI'm using blueman for my keyboard, network-manager for ethernet on the usb docking station.  Both work pretty well.  Yes the issue is not being able to dial out even when registered with the provider.21:45
doncsms was working and incoming calls too21:46
doncBut I finally got dial out to work by installing another call app21:47
doncgnome-call I thing, lemme check21:47
inkyi think yesterday i tested and found out that when there are several wifi access points with same ssid, and you move aroend, maemo reconnecms to the closest one.21:47
inkyreconnects*21:48
Wizzupdonc: is network manager taking over what icd2 is supposed to do?21:49
WizzupWe don't normally run network manager21:49
siceloinky: isn't that behavior expected?21:49
Wizzupwhat is 'dial out', making a phone call?21:49
doncyeah, gnome-caller let's me dial out successfully but what's interesting is  I have to enter the user password and the message "System policy prevents voice calls"21:50
doncyes making a call rather than incoming21:50
Wizzupand you can't use sphone?21:51
WizzupI didn't even know we have gnome-caller...21:51
doncI couldn't get ethernet to work reliably  without network manager21:51
inky> inky: isn't that behavior expected?21:51
inkyi didnt know how maemo would behave. sxmo didn't reconnect.21:51
doncsphone failed consistently21:51
siceloyou have a broken system ... gnome-calls will install ModemManager, which cannot co-manage the modem with ofono (which we use under Leste)21:52
doncwhatever the case, I can make calls.  So far so good21:54
Wizzupdonc: how did sphone fail?21:54
Wizzupthe solution here is to fix whatever is going wrong in sphone21:54
doncwhen I enter the number and hit call, it starts a call then ends in a couple seconds21:55
doncFinding the solution is the problem I've had.  I was posting here in may trying to resolve the no call problem21:55
freemangordondonc: did you try *before* installing the whole MM stack?21:56
Wizzupdonc: are you on -devel?21:56
freemangordonWizzup: we shall move things to -stable21:56
freemangordonor at least start moving21:57
doncI only installed MM gui because is says it supports ofono but not  my version I think because ofono is greyed out21:57
doncno not dev.  I tried dev but nothing worked21:57
WizzupI don't know how MM can support ofono, they conflict21:58
freemangordonthey don't21:58
Wizzupdonc: interesting, I am on dev now on the pp and can make calls21:58
doncI installed dev and did an apt upgrade with installed 900+ packages and it sucked at anything I tried.  I suppose it was the wrong move21:59
doncI have a subordinate provider to ATT21:59
sicelodonc: to use ofono, you need to kill gnome-calls, then run it with 'gnome-calls -p ofono'22:00
doncI know PP works with ATT but I don't want ATT because the required access to my checking acct when I tried to sign up22:00
sicelobut yes, let's rather get you to fix sphone. gnome-calls' ofono backend is not well maintained22:00
donccommand line "gnome-calls  -p ofono" to make calls or is that config22:01
donc?22:01
siceloyes, and you would need to stop ModemManager first22:02
doncmy providers aren't on the provider list within the system22:02
siceloi wonder if issue is not volte perhaps22:03
Wizzupfor the record leste won't use modemmanager for a long time to come, so if you want a leste system to use it's best to go back to stock image and help us debug what is not working for you22:04
doncWhen I used the scripts for testing basic settings, some failed22:06
Wizzupif you can get more specific than 'some failed' we can try to solve it22:06
doncI'll back up my partition and put back the clean one and get back with you guys if you have the time22:07
doncI need to look up the scripts.  I'll redo the scene.  Gimme a few22:07
Wizzupthe test would be, flash latest stable image, try to call, repor whta happens22:09
doncokie dokie, flashed image dated 08-21-24, booted, expanded partition, entered my voicemail number,  it proceded to the dialing screen for 5 seconds before returning to the dial pad.  No messages or errors shown.  I've this 50 times while tweaking this setting for config file or that one.22:59
doncno ethernet by default23:00
Wizzupyes, no ethernet by default is expected23:01
Wizzupcan you upgrade to -devel and try the same?23:01
Wizzupthis means adding the -devel line in addition to the regular line23:01
doncthen apt upgrade?23:01
Wizzupapt update and then apt upgrade23:04
donc'...non-free devel'  nothing else?   On update I get 50 messages about "configured multiple time..."23:20
Wizzupthat doesn't seem right.23:23
Wizzuphttps://leste.maemo.org/Development#Developing_on_a_device23:24
doncokay, now after the 5 second  dialing screen, it goes to and "active call" screen for 2 seconds before returning to the dial pad23:39
