| Xenguy | Does anyone happen to know if these instructions to install LibreWolf would work for Chimaera (i.e. oldstable) ? | 01:08 |
|---|---|---|
| Xenguy | https://librewolf.net/installation/debian/ | 01:08 |
| fsmithred | Xenguy, it looks complicated. I just tried 'dpkg -i librewolf...' and it ran, but there are some missing deps. | 01:27 |
| fsmithred | in particular: librewolf depends on libc6 (>= 2.38); however: | 01:27 |
| fsmithred | Version of libc6:amd64 on system is 2.31-13+deb11u11 | 01:27 |
| fsmithred | that's chimaera | 01:27 |
| fsmithred | it might be possible to backport it. | 01:29 |
| Xenguy | fsmithred, Thanks for checking. I'm not surprised as it is probably geared to stable. | 01:30 |
| Xenguy | I've never tried building a backport; maybe some day when I have more time I'll consider investigating that | 01:31 |
| _Random | Hi all, please if you can help / Thanks | 02:06 |
| _Random | where can I find the appropiate firmware for this error ath10k_pci 0000:01:00.0: firmware: failed to load ath10k/pre-cal-pci-0000:01:00.0.bin PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.11.10-1~bpo12+1 (2024-12-19) Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter driver: ath10k_pci firmware-atheros/stable,stable,now 20230210-5 all [installed | 02:06 |
| _Random | Kernel driver in use: ath10k_pci | 02:08 |
| _ds_ | Since you're using a kernel from backports, you should also install firmware from backports. | 02:11 |
| _Random | how to do that ? | 02:12 |
| _ds_ | In this case, it should be firmware-atheros. | 02:12 |
| _ds_ | You have a few options. One is “apt install -t stable-backports firmware-atheros”. | 02:12 |
| _Random | firmware-atheros Version: 20230210-5 | 02:13 |
| _ds_ | 20240709-2~bpo12+1 is in backports. | 02:13 |
| _Random | thanks, installing apt install -t stable-backports firmware-atheros | 02:14 |
| _ds_ | I don't know if that'll get rid of that error (or even if it actually matters), though. Easiest way to find out is to reboot. (Also, installing that package should have caused updates of initramfs/initrd files.) | 02:17 |
| _ds_ | (I strongly suspect that it doesn't matter because the filename given includes the PCI address.) | 02:21 |
| _Random | _ds_: Thanks but you are right still the same issues ! | 02:44 |
| _Random | 20240709-2~bpo12+1 | 02:44 |
| _Random | binary firmware for USB wireless network and Bluetooth cards | 02:45 |
| _Random | when I run apt info firmware-atheros i get this, ' N: There is 1 additional record. Please use the '-a' switch to see it' how to resolve this. | 02:51 |
| rrq | _Random: you may ignore that log line. it appears to be some bogus residue in the adapter | 02:55 |
| _Random | ahh | 02:55 |

| CueXXIII | TiL: "Devuan" comes from debian and VUA, which stands for "veteran unix admin" | 08:20 |
| psionic | Debian comes from IAM killing muhself Murdoc | 08:28 |
| psionic | I think the real reason he killed himself was not his girlfriend or the police harrassment but systemd | 08:28 |

| freem | hm... trying to pick a devuan iso for remote install, I find the download page pretty confusing. It is just a rather long text followed by an even longer list of probably unsorted mirrors, and the 4-5 I quickly took a look at simply do not seem to give any fast link toward the last stable. I'll manage, ofc, but that is not very inspiring for newcommers. Just saying this to share the thought, in case someone can find time & motivation to improve on this. | 14:38 |
| freem | One way to improve would probably to get a "latest" link that would redirect to the latest stable (and probably caps-locked so that it is more noticeable) | 14:40 |
| gnarface | freem: are you looking at files.devuan.org? | 14:50 |
| Xenguy | freem, Might I suggest that if you're going to leave feedback about a page, you at least offer a URL? | 14:51 |
| freem | I have looked at it, after noticing the link on the IRC topic, but it have the same problems imo | 14:51 |
| freem | https://www.devuan.org/get-devuan | 14:51 |
| freem | but I originally followed this ^ | 14:51 |
| freem | which is reached when clicking on "download" from the main page | 14:52 |
| gnarface | freem: try this one: https://files.devuan.org/devuan_daedalus/installer-iso/devuan_daedalus_5.0.1_amd64_netinstall.iso | 14:52 |
| freem | basically did the normal path | 14:52 |
| freem | "I'll manage, ofc" | 14:52 |
| freem | it's not my 1st time :D | 14:52 |
| freem | it was only to give a feedback | 14:52 |
| AlexLikeRock | hi people !! | 23:04 |
