gnarfaceagneli: no, i got nothing so far. i'll try to get a chance to poke at it again tonight, but i'm pretty sure those inodes will all turn out to be the config files i see loading on the command-line16:41
agnelignarface: you irc client does not let you discuss things outside of main channel?17:25
agnelisockets will not turn out to be config files17:26
agneliany open files will be listed as themselved in the /proc/PID/fd17:26
gnarfaceagneli: no, sorry i just accidentally closed the chat with you before realizing you were offline. afaik my IRC client won't let me re-open private chats if the user has gone offline17:27
gnarfacei didn't think it was particularly important though i do realize this has strayed somewhat offtoipc17:28
gnarface*offtopic17:28
gnarfacei do remember going down this path a long time ago though, i think, and discovering just dead-ends and coming to the conclusion that the problem has to be fixed at the host side17:29
gnarfacegoogle search results sporadically insist that pulseaudio shouldn't be required, but the solution provided to [enable play audio on host] seems nonsensical and doesn't actually fix the issue (audio does play on the host then, but still not on the steam link)17:30
gnarfacestill, the fact that info comes up so prevalently makes me wonder if it's not doable17:30
gnarfacemaybe there's something my audio driver or alsa config is missing that would make this work...17:31
agneliach that is true, I am very rarely offline17:32
agnelibut it does happen sometimes17:32
agnelibut we are poluting the main chanel I bit I guess17:32
agnelinobody is protesting though :)17:32
agnelii strongly recommend checking the sockets 3 times before venturing any further17:33
gnarfaceit's a grey area, i'm using devuan to do this and the whole intent was started out of the desire to sideload devuan on the thing, but it does seem like more of a Steam support issue (it's just that they're not helping)17:33
gnarfacealright, noted17:34
agneliwith time and patience we will eliminate pulseautio crap17:34
gnarfacei had managed a decent workaround by piping the raw audio to a rpi1 and then back into my stereo through an analog connector, but that solution limits me to stereo sound, and i'm desperately trying to achieve full surround-sound like i have locally (and like pulseaudio has when used with the steamlink)17:35
