siceloanyone with n900, please run `sudo udevadm monitor`, then connect and disconnect charger. please share the output10:09
Wizzupwill do, it's lagging behind again, right?10:37
siceloyes :-P10:50
siceloI am working on a patch to fix it.10:50
WizzupI think spinal84 did something to fix a similar problem way back11:04
Wizzupsicelo: https://bpa.st/3XQMU11:10
sicelothank you13:47
arno11sicelo: any idea why sometimes idle current draw increases @10mA when i unplug charger ?13:56
sicelono idea13:56
siceloI only ever heard that musb is a complicated mess that everyone doesn't want to touch with a ten foot pole13:57
arno11(example: idle 48mA, plug to wall charger, unplug charger, then idle @58mA)13:58
arno11ok i see :)13:58
sicelomaybe we have problems in the interaction between isp1707, bq24150a, and twl4030 ... races perhaps?13:58
arno11maybe yes13:59
siceloso once it increases, it remains high until next boot? or there's some way to 'recover?13:59
arno11reboot is needed or plug-unplug sometimes solves the issue14:00
buZz'ten foot pole' is one of my favorite bands ;)14:00
Wizzupsicelo: could this be related to your upower whitelist removal?14:57
sicelono, it was like this already for a long time (same as the other issues, such as never reporting full)15:01
Wizzupok15:03
Wizzupmaybe spinals old patches give some hints15:03
sicelohe fixed the issues in upower, which is alright. i am fixing them in kernel, so things are more likely to work ootb15:17
siceloe.g. after fixing the charger (bq24150) in kernel, upower immediately handled it properly, hence we no longer needed the blacklist15:17
siceloupower itself isn't the nicest software around, so yeah, some fixes will most likely still be needed. anyway, the cl15:19
sicelo*the more conformant our drivers, the more likely we can use upstream upower, for example.15:19
Wizzupagreed15:29
siceloby the way, although I haven't verified it yet, I think that since we have a logind session now, upower probably shuts down devices once it thinks we're out of power18:52
Wizzupwe should check if this is still mce controlled, it should be I think18:54
WizzupI think you can turn this off in some config file18:55
Wizzupsee /etc/logind/logind.conf.d/maemo-leste.conf18:55
Wizzup(might not be enough, but hey)18:56
sicelois it just my droid 4 or there's boot issues somewhere? i frequently find mine hangs at boot, with faint backlight19:46
siceloi know my battery is kaput ... maybe it's just that?19:47
buZzsicelo: not SDcard full?19:49
buZzi havent had 'hung on boot' often on droid4 but sometimes, usually had such issue19:50
sicelonah, it's not SD19:50
buZzalright19:50
buZzone of these days i still want to make a usb-uart cable for the droid419:50
siceloeasy. make for N900 😜19:55
siceloand make for Librem519:56
freemangordonsicelo: no issues booting d4 whatsoever, besides with flat battery19:59
freemangordonwhich happens occasionally now shotdown does not work on 6.620:00
freemangordon*shutdown20:00
freemangordonflat == *really flat*20:00
siceloright. I suspect my battery is just excessively worn.20:00
buZzone of these days i'm gonna retry stuffing a LG cell on the droid4 BMS20:02
Wizzupsicelo: maybe charge mode is hitting you?22:08
Wizzupor what fmg says22:10
sicelono, charge mode works fine. this looks like kernel doesn't even start.22:10
Wizzupyeah that sounds like battery issues22:12
uvosnah22:42
uvoswhat sicelo sees is not related to his battery22:43
sicelowhat's up then?22:44
uvoswhen the battery is below some voltage threshold and you boot via usb plug the device hangs before the display is initalized, this was true before 6.6 but 6.6 now hangs on shutdown sometimes so you see it now. i dont know any more than that, the issue is ofc resistant to debugging since you cant trigger it while having any output from the deivce at all.22:46
uvossince it triggers only with usb plugged22:46
siceloyes i'm getting this when the device boots after connecting to charger22:49
uvosthe only way i know to even theoreticly debug this issue would be to bitbang a uart on the gpio 2 pins on the back of the device and use that for console output22:50
