chozorho1Hey everyone. I hate to bother you, but I have been struggling with package manager dependency problems since I upgraded my PHP version to 8.3... I want to install a couple final php-related packages, php-mbstring and php-GD, but these depend on a long chain of libraries like `libavif9` -> `libgav1` -> `libabslXXX` -> `libstdc++`. And as soon as I try installing different libstdc++ versions (from07:11
chozorho1apt or from .deb file), I find even whackier issues, since that depends on libc6. Any chance somebody can help?07:11
chozorho1aw wait shoot07:11
chozorho1this is my VPS, which is ordinary debian, not devuan...07:11
chozorho1sorry to bother you.07:12
rwpThe packages are the same between Debian and Devuan.  Those are verbatim the same.07:14
rwpYou did not say which suite you are trying to install.  The problem you describe is typical for Unstable where things are always rolling and partial builds flow out.07:14
chozorho1oh... dang. My apt is apparently pointing to "testing"... I must have set that and forgotten about it. sorry.07:19
rustyaxetesting isnt so bad, unstable is a lot more chaotic07:24
rustyaxeStable tends to be rather ancient, testing is fairly recently, unstable is in a constant state of chaos as far as updates ;)07:26
cirith_ungolunstable at least has some assurance07:27
cirith_ungolexperimental doesn't07:28
rwpThe discussions of how stable Testing is versus Unstable continue forever.  It's like the parable of the blind men feeling a different part of the elephant and then describing what they feel.07:29
chozorho1damn, I switched to stable, and I feel like I am so close, but this one last package is giving me trouble. https://pastebin.com/niRKkv0v07:38
cirith_ungoltry apt-get -f install07:39
n4dirlooks like the first package, libavf1, is only in old-stable.07:41
n4dirI wouldn't start doing things right now, but investigate the whole situation. Starting with: have packages from testing been installed, third party repos, so forth07:42
rwpCan you still install other packages?  I would install apt-show-versions and use it to list which packages are installed from Testing and downgrade those to the ones in Stable.07:47
rwpIn Stable: apt-cache show libgd3 |grep Depends => Depends: libavif15 (>= 0.11.1), libc6 (>= 2.29), libfontconfig1 (>= 2.12.6), libfreetype6 (>= 2.2.1), libheif1 (>= 1.3.2), libjpeg62-turbo (>= 1.3.1), libpng16-16 (>= 1.6.2-1), libtiff6 (>= 4.0.3), libwebp7 (>= 1.2.4), libxpm407:48
rwpThat libavf1 package is not a dependency of php-gd in Stable.07:48
anyguyhey I'm trying to figure out why menulibre is not working in the 6.1.0-28 image07:49
anyguyI can't left-click on the menus and "edit menu" like older versions of devuan07:50
gnarfaceanyguy: i only vaguely recall something like there being another package to add or just a checkbox in some menu to enable, or something like that, but i could be confusing your issue with another08:00
gnarfacestick around though, someone surely knows08:00
gnarfaceby "6.1.0-28 image" i assume you mean daedalus, current stable, right?08:02

AlexLikeRock what its the best  alternative from GITHUB :because , buy it to ruin it micro$hit19:38
uncloudedYou might consider https://sr.ht/ but there is also https://gitlab.com/.20:33
rustyaxein place converted deb 12 to devuan testing to avoid having to deal with racknerd support to get iso mounted. That's today's success lol20:34
Alverstoneevolution-data-server-common is going to be installed as a new dependency upon `apt upgrade`. I am now going to manually upgrade each god damn package to figure out what heinous devil brings this utter junk into my system20:53
AlverstoneI never asked for evolution why!?20:54
AlexLikeRockunclouded, Owner:GitLab Inc.20:54
AlexLikeRockcool ,  thats  fine to me  , thanks20:54

AlverstoneI broke everything, nice21:03
AlverstoneAccidentally deleted a ton of -dev packages, but seems I'm still up and running and the weird dependencies still try to invade!21:12
Alverstoneapt-mark showmanual | awk '/^lib/' | xargs -P50 -I, apt-mark auto ','21:14
AlverstoneDon't do it21:14
debdogyou don't need -dev packages to run stuff21:14
AlverstoneI'm more interested when I installed them at all21:15
debdoghehe, i can't help you with that21:16
CueXXIIIAlverstone: /var/log/dpkg.log might help, if it wasn't too long ago21:35
AlverstoneHA!21:37
AlverstoneI found it21:37
AlverstoneNow I'm at a loss because it's bluez. Just please tell what the heck does bluez have to do with evolution? What is the name of this plague?21:38
Alverstoneremoved bluez-obexd and now everything is fine21:41
Alverstonewhat a horrible little nuisance21:41
CueXXIIImaybe to exchange cander entries vie bluetooth21:42

AlverstoneI dislike phones in general and ever since I found out about localsend I felt like a burden lifted from my shoulders. No more nuisances moving stuff from PC to phone21:44
raubIs the line "includedir /etc/xinetd.d" in xinetd.conf smart enough not to read files  ending with a "~"?22:13
plasma41raub: According to [the manpage](https://manpages.debian.org/bookworm/xinetd/xinetd.conf.5.en.html), yes it is smart enough.22:52
plasma41"Every file inside that directory, excluding files with names containing a dot ('.') or ending with a tilde ('~'), will be parsed as xinetd configuration files."22:52
raubplasma41: thanks!22:58
plasma41:-)22:58
