onefangDebian bun fight in the works.  dpkg maintainers REALLY don't like usrmerge.  I just noticed dpkg-fsys-usrunmess, it's man page is a fun read.05:38
onefangHopefully they don't run it automatically.05:49
Xenguydpkg maintainers, the last bastion of resistance : -)06:30
XenguyPoor poor debian, how they have fallen06:31
Xenguy*They* used to be the resistance06:31
xrogaanonefang: on the lists?11:39
onefangdpkg-fsys-usrunmess is part of the dpkg package.  I just updated it today, and noticed it was there, then read the man page.  It's job is to undo usrmerge.  It's man page says bad things about usrmerge.12:23
onefangPart of the bun fight can be seen at https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Dpkg/FAQ#Q:_Does_dpkg_support_merged-.2Fusr-via-aliased-dirs.3F which is referenced by the man page.  Starts by basically saying usrmerge will break your system, then is followed by a note that not using usrmerge will break your system.  lol12:38

HumanGeekBecause it's quite impossible to get help from #debian-next19:04
HumanGeek2 questions19:04
fsmithredlol, so I've heard19:04
HumanGeekis i miss an upade-rc option ?19:05
fsmithredmaybe you'd have better luck with eudev19:05
HumanGeekprobably but not in debian repo19:05
fsmithreddunno. I'd have to re-read the man page.19:05
HumanGeekok19:05
fsmithredI usually use sysv-rc-conf19:05
fsmithreddefaults19:06
HumanGeekwill check for the tool and the init script19:06
fsmithredI think that might be the command you want to use in update-rc.d19:06
HumanGeekalso i see in release/bug log of sysinit orphan script in debian some remove19:06
fsmithredassuming there's an init script with defaults in it.19:07
fsmithredyes, they are removing init scripts.19:07
HumanGeekno lvl of init in that tool for udev19:07
fsmithredsorry, I don't understand.19:07

fsmithredarrows and space bar19:09
fsmithredq to quit19:09
HumanGeek# Default-Start:     S in the init script in /etc/init.d/udev19:09

HumanGeekhumm strange never had been followed/add19:15
HumanGeekbut i thunk i have same issue on new/fresh install19:16
HumanGeekif i do a debian bug report and says put default sysvinit level to S they will understand ?19:16
HumanGeekany way to check in debian src package it's not an error on my side ?19:17
fsmithredsure, they'll understand. They're not stupid; just dicks.19:17
fsmithredmaybe post on forum or mailing list and someone else has run into it. Also check for bug reports.19:18
fsmithredchances are good you'll get a "wontfix"19:18
fsmithredare you on latest stable or testing/unstable?19:18
HumanGeekis being a dick is not being stupid ? you have  3 hours. (french translated joke about exam studies especialy philosofy)19:19
HumanGeekfsmithred: testing19:19
fsmithredthey are separate characteristics. (intelligence and manners)19:20
HumanGeeki keep debian testing especialy to make upstream devuan report (aka in debian). In order to they keep maintaining stuff19:20
fsmithredcool, thanks for doing that.19:21
fsmithredI have to go.19:21
fsmithredGood luck on the reboot.19:21
HumanGeekif they can't see why diversity is good maybe they are not so smart.19:21
HumanGeekok, thx fsmithred19:21
fsmithredcheck the postinst scripts to see if they changed (removed) the link.19:22
fsmithredI'm guessing that's where it happens.19:22
HumanGeekok i will send the report link/number if several of you want to "upvote".19:23
