Super Dune II: Classic Edition

General Information
-------------------
Super Dune II: Classic Edition is an updated version of the Dune II
modification, Super Dune II. Unlike the original, Super Dune II: Classic
Edition uses the patched version of Dune II (v1.07), which has many bugs from
v1.0 fixed. Apart from that, Super Dune II: Classic Edition remedies lots of
bugs, flaws and errors specific to Super Dune II as well. These include:

Greneral gameplay issues
------------------------
- New title/main menu screen.
- The new sides' Mentats that have been screwed up are now fully restored,
  including missing background music. The Fremen, Mercenaries and Sardaukar
  are now briefed by the Atreides, Ordos and Harkonnen Mentat respectively.
- All missions have been cleaned up of all errors.
- The campaigns have been supplied with new briefings that are relevant to the
  new missions' content.

Other issues
------------
- Sardaukar and Mercenary concrete placement error fixed (thanks segra!)
- Mercenary- and Fremen-conquered regions not being displayed on the conquest
  map fixed (thanks segra!)
- The AI has been improved even more by fixing the "team bug".
- The Starport facility is now fully functional for all new sides.
- The announcer now pronounces the word "Mercenary" when a Mercenary-related
  event occurs.
- The new sides' units are no longer immune to Deviator gas (the Sardaukar are
  still very resistant to it though).
- The Sandworms have been made more controllable. You can now order the
  Sandworms to Move (not very effective though), Guard and Area Guard. In
  Guard mode, the Sandworm will agressively hunt and attack any target,
  including friendly units, while in Area Guard mode it is less agressive and
  tends not to attack allied units. By default, all Fremen-owned Sandworms in
  the Fremen campaign are now set to Area Guard to prevent them from attacking
  other Fremen-owned units.
- Fixed the error which caused the game to crash with a "No more scenarios!"
  message when the first mission of each campaign was restarted.
- Fixed some minor graphical issues.

Installation
------------
NOTE 1: To play Super Dune II: Classic Edition, you will need Dune II v1.07.
The mod is compatible with all known releases of Dune II (US patched v1.07,
European three-language CD version and the HitSquad three-language release).

NOTE 2: The original Super Dune II is based upon Dune II v1.0. You should NOT
install Super Dune II: Classic Edition in your original Super Dune II folder.

1. Extract the files into your Dune II folder. No original Dune II files will
be replaced, so that you can play both Dune II and Super Dune II: Classic
Edition without the need to rename or swap any files.

2. Run the setup program (SD2SETUP.EXE) to configure the game. The setup
program allows you to choose multiple sound devices for game sound. It is
recommended that you select Sound Canvas or MT-32 for music, and Sound Blaster
or Sound Blaster Pro for speech and sound effects (make sure you have such
devices on your system, or, if you're using DOSBox, that it is set to emulate
them).

3. Run SUPER.EXE.

4. Start a new game as in regular Dune II.

5. Click on a House herald to select:

	House Atreides		Fremen
	House Ordos		Mercenaries
	House Harkonnen		Sardaukar

Uninstalling
------------
Super Dune II: Classic Edition comes with a simple uninstaller. Run UNINST.BAT
from the folder where Super Dune II: Classic Edition is installed. It will
automatically remove all mod files, except for saved games and the high score
table. The original Dune II files and savegames will not be affected.
