You have offered the Crystal of "Revenge" to your deity. Suddenly the atmo-
sphere feels charged and the air smells like ozone. Some seconds later a
bright and colorful light is glowing in the north of the altar. An artifi-
cial sound fills the room---a wind chime, echoing through an ice storm.

Ian, the temple servant, busy as always behind the altar, stops his
work. "What is happening here?" he asks. "What have you done?" His eyes are
fearful. "It is a portal" you explain. "The gods opened it for us, in
order to help us to bring back the sword 'Northdoom' to men." Ian's fear is
growing. "Northdoom?" he asks, and it is nearly a scream. "But this sword
is lost, and they say if it would ever be found, the person who wields it
will be cursed forever!"

"Maybe, Ian, maybe" you say quietly. "Regardless of that, we have to find
the sword and secure it. It's better to have it in our hands than to leave
it for somebody else." Obviously Ian is not convinced. "I tell you, it is
no good idea!" Ian insists. You smile. "Perhaps you're right, but I believe
I must decide on my own if I enter the portal. It will disappear soon and
then our last chance to get 'Northdoom' back will be lost."

You look to the portal, fascinated by the colors, and begin to think.
