# This is the database of text commands.

# Welcome commands are sent when you first play
# as the given character.

welcome::You1
    You are in a little twisting maze of passages, all different.

    The room you stand in has blue walls. You are convinced that if you can
    find a room with gold walls you can find the exit.

    Good luck!

    Hit '?' for a list of keyboard commands.

welcome::You2
    You are in a little maze of twisting passages, all different.

    Your escape through the gold room brought you to another blue room.
    Perhaps if you find the gold room you will get out?

    Good luck!

welcome::You3
    You are in a little maze of twisty passages, all different.

    Welcome to the blue room! Somewhere there is a gold room. Reach it!

    Good luck!

welcome::You4
    You are in a little twisty maze of passages, all different.

    Blue stone surrounds you. You yearn to be surrounded by gold.

    Good luck!

welcome::You5
    You are in a maze of little twisty passages, all different.

    From this blue room, you must reach the gold room! Quick now, the music
    does not last long!

    Good luck!

welcome::You6
    You are in a maze of little twisting passages, all different.

    Find the red room... Just kidding, it is still the gold room you seek.

    What, exactly, does all this have to do with the gradient of a vector
    field?

    Good luck!

welcome::You7
    You are in a maze of twisting little passages, all different.

    Take a deep breath. Relax. Because the gold room is quite far from the
    blue room.

    Good luck!

welcome::You8
    You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all different.

    The ritual is now familiar to you: get to the gold room. The likelihood
    of you reading this text is inversely proportional to the number of times
    you have to read it because you have to restart the level.

    Good luck!

welcome::You9
    You are in a twisting little maze of passages, all different.

    Getting to the gold room is difficult. It might even be impossible with
    the default repeat rate on your keyboard. But you are only two levels from
    victory. Stopping at this point is unthinkable.

    Stretch your fingers and try again!

    Good luck!

welcome::You10
    You are in a twisting maze of little passages, all different.

    You blink your eyes. Colour still floats in front of them, relics of your
    constant strain to distinguish slightly different hues. This challenge
    represents the last, however. After this you can brag of your superior
    abilities.

    Good luck!

welcome::You11
    You are in a twisty little maze of passages, all different.

    Remember, you can quit at any time now. Do not let this obsession ruin
    your life! The gold room has been found more than enough times. In any
    case, this level is likely entirely impossible anyways.

fire::You
    Hey! That is you on the other side of that portal!

# Game commands are the general overall commands.
game::help
    Travel to the gold room. Try not to die. When the music ends, so do you.
    But remember this is a turn based game!

    When you are dead and awaiting revival is a good time to e'x'amine your
    opponents, look at the 'm'ap, or change 'w'hich sort of items you prefer.

    You can move with the number pad or with vi-style keys. You
    can also use the cursor keys for four way movement. Walking into creatures
    will attack them.

game::lose
    The song ends, and so do you!

    You can try this level again, or even retry an earlier one to see if you
    find some nice items. Best items are found on the latest levels, however.

    Remember that you can create portals.

    If you don't know why rotating the map is a good idea, perhaps do some
    research on the Jacobian.

    May the Jacobian be with you!

game::victory1
    Congratulations! You have found the gold room!

    Here you find, hidden behind one of the walls, the staircase that takes you
    to the next level.

    The blue glow from the staircase gets you a bit worried, however...

game::victory2
    Aha! The gold room! And, sure enough, here is the exit to the next level!

    Now if only you knew what that Jacobian was about.

game::victory3
    Monsters to kill and loot to pilfer, what more could you ask for? What was
    that? More monsters and more loot? Well, that is easy to arrange.

game::victory4
    The gold room, at last!

    The colours are really starting to blur together now. It is a good idea to figure out that Jacobian thingee to save strain on your eyes.

game::victory5
    Gah! That was a tough fight you had there.

    Harder fights are still to come, so gird yourself and press on!

game::victory6
    Congratulations! You are well past half-way, at least as measured in terms
    of levels. In terms of rooms to crawl through? Well, it is better not to
    count those.

game::victory7
    Hurrah! A very good job to make it this far. The dungeons are getting
    very long and very twisty. You have obviously learned some smart
    navigation tricks. Have you considered sharing them with others?

game::victory8
    Excellent! With this impressive achievement victory seems almost possible!
    Remember, while the difficult increases with the square for the naive
    explorer, for skilled spelunkers like yourself, it merely increases
    linearly!

game::victory9
    Wow!  Level 9 conquered!

    You know what this means. Only one level left. You can do it. You still
    have a few hours before you have to wake up, don't you? Prioritize! Sleep
    is the enemy.  Play on!

game::victory10
    BANZAI!  BANZAI!  BANZAI!

    You did it!

    Against all odds, you made it across the map within the short window
    allotted to you!

    In this room you find two staircases. One, marked 'Q' for quit, takes you
    back into the sunshine of freedom and normal life. The other staircase has
    blue light coming from it. You can still descend - if you care.

game::victory11
    Yep, we all get it. You are a superstar.

    Keep up the good work, and make sure you let us know how deep you get
    before the skeleton captain eviscerates you.

mob::You
    You are an adventurer trying to get through the twisty, turny, passages,
    all different, but under strong time constraints.

mob::ant
    The industrious ant is at home in the caves. Of course, no home
    is complete without some home renovation. Ants are swift to
    start redesigning the cavern to their liking.

mob::bat
    The erratic flight pattern of bats has often caused them to be
    associated with madness. However, one may be surprised to know
    that there is a purpose behind it.

mob::cat
    A cute little household cat prances about the cavern.

mob::dog
    Bred to retrieve waterfowl shot by hunters, this dog is very good
    at running straight to the fallen bird, ignoring any and all
    distractions on the way.

mob::echidna
    One of the few monotremes, or egg bearing mammals, the echidna has
    the unique characteristic of having its front and back feet facing
    in opposite directions. Echidnas wander the caverns according to
    desires alien to us, only posing a problem if approached too
    closely.

mob::frog
    A lightly leaping frog hops across the cavern floor.

mob::ghost
    The uneasy dead wander the halls as mere shades of their former
    selves. The shock of turning a corner and seeing a ghost suddenly
    in front of you is great - but the fear is unwarranted, for in this
    case, the dead cannot harm the living.

mob::horse
    A large brown horse gallops through the dungeon.

mob::imp
    Small demons summoned to the mortal plane, imps live to cause
    mischief and problems. Their infuriating refusal to hold still
    has caused many a stalwart fighter to scream in frustration.

mob::jack rabbit
    The innocuous jack rabbit will cause significant problems if left
    to its own devices. Given enough time, the dungeon will be
    overrun with them if they are not slain swiftly.

mob::kobold
    Kobolds are small purple furred dog-like creatures. While an
    individual kobold poses little threat, their use of ranged weapons
    can wear down an adventurer.

mob::lichen
    Lichen is an excellent example of a symbiotic relationship.
    Composed of both fungus and algae living together in harmony, it
    is often classed as a single organism by laymen.

mob::mouse
    Small white mice scurry through the caves. Their seemingly
    erratic movement pattern can be deciphered by the skilled mouser.

mob::orc
    The filthy blue skinned orcs are the product of some crazed mage's
    experimentations. Their lack of redeeming features has led to
    them being exiled to the caverns where they lurk in the shadows.

mob::newt
    The lowly newt is the butt of many jokes. Do not fall prey to it,
    or the joke will be on you!

mob::penguin
    The yellow-eyed penguin is a solitary creature which keeps to
    its nest. It is highly territorial, however, so do not be
    surprised if it becomes aggressive when disturbed.

mob::queen bee
    The queen bee is rarely found far from her hive. Her powerful
    stinger means that wise people will give her the privacy she
    desires.

mob::rat
    Cowardly rats flee at the first sign of trouble. Beware of
    cornering them, however, for a cornered rat does not mind fighting
    unfair.

mob::snake
    Fortunately, these snakes are not poisonous, and hence pose little
    threat to a wary adventurer.

mob::turtle
    Large green turtles have formidable shells. However, their slow
    pace makes this not a great concern.

mob::unicorn
    A white unicorn prances playfully in the caves.

mob::vampire
    Wise people kill vampires first. Vampires gain from your loss,
    so, left untended, may soon become unbeatable.

mob::warthog
    The yellowed tusks of this warthog seem to be covered with blood.
    You decide to be careful in approaching it.

mob::grid bug
    Few understand the strange dimension from which these small purple
    x's come from. Observant players note the artifacts in their
    movement patterns that results from their extra-dimensional origin
    and take advantage of it.

mob::yellow light
    Small glowing balls of light float through the caverns
    illuminating all around them. While the damage caused by running into
    such a light is negligible, the tactical disadvantage of being
    blinded is great.

mob::zombie
    An undead horror which shambles through the caves. Its slow
    shambling pace minimizes the threat posed by its high resistance
    to damage.

mob::ape
    The great ape is normally a docile creature. If disturbed,
    however, beware its powerful claws.

mob::polar bear
    The polar bear, escaping from the dwindling arctic pack ice, seems to
    have come underground. The strong constitution of the polar bear
    make it a formidable foe.

mob::centaur
    Half-human, half-horse, Centaurs are more at home to forest glades
    than dungeon depths. Nonetheless, their quick speed and lethal
    arrows make them adversaries worth worrying about.

mob::dragon
    The mythical dragon is well known in literature. Here you can see
    it come to life, complete with a fiery breath suitable for
    incinerating the unwise.

mob::elephant
    The last creature seen by most adventurers, the elephant is the most
    deadly of foes, combining a tough hide with a devastating
    trample attack.

mob::fungus
    A bright purple fungus grows fat on the remains of the fallen. So
    long as you continue to breathe, it poses no threat to you.

mob::giant
    Giant humanoids - twelve feet in height - they are not content to
    throw rocks.  They throw boulders.

mob::hippopotamus
    The most deadly creature in Africa is not the lion, but the Hippo.
    A surly temper and an unstoppable charge results in many deaths.
    Take advantage of their short sightedness to avoid entering
    fights.

mob::icebeast
    Ferocious creatures from the arctic wastes, beware the icey grasp
    or find yourself frozen in your tracks.

mob::jaguar
    This member of the cat family combines powerful claws with a
    strong constitution.  Approach with caution!

mob::kleptomaniac
    Crazed kleptomaniacs are humans that will steal anything not
    nailed down. Unlike normal thieves who steal for profit, it is
    their mental condition that drives them to commit theft.

mob::lich
    Powerful wizards can make diabolical pacts with the devil to
    return after death as a lich. NEVER confuse these with lichen!

mob::mummy
    Powerful people in Egypt would be mummified to allow their bodies
    to travel to the next world intact. Some did not make it to the
    next world - awakening instead in these caverns. Those that
    waken here are not very happy about the turn of events.

mob::naga
    Half-man, half-snake, the naga is a creature of nightmares. As it
    slithers to you, be wary of its thrown spear. But be even more
    wary of its powerful sword if you should engage in melee.

mob::ogre
    The malformed ogre isn't known for deep thoughts. The biggest
    decision an ogre faces is what to hit next with its spiked club.

mob::python
    The python is a constrictor snake that can grow to enormous
    lengths. This specimen is easily large enough to swallow you
    whole!

mob::quoll
    The ferocious quoll is native to Australia where, despite its
    powerful abilities, it is being threatened by the common cat.

mob::rous
    Native to the fireswamps, the transplanted rous can pose a problem
    for adventurers. A Rodent of Unusual Size, the rous can be
    thought of as a rat. Except bigger.

mob::purple slug
    The dreaded purple slug is a pulmonate of enormous size. A vivid
    purple in colour, it exudes an acidic slime that can dissolve all
    that threaten it.

mob::troll
    Ugly trolls are usually found under bridges. Despite the lack of
    bridges, you have found one here. Beware - the magical nature of
    the troll lets it heal wounds almost as fast as you inflict them.

mob::umber hulk
    Shambling mounds of unspeakable appearance, umber hulks patrol the
    dungeon, occasionally bashing new passage ways where none existed
    before.

mob::vampire lord
    The dreaded vampire lord is a foe to be reckoned with. Strike
    fast, or find that your own health is being used against you!

mob::wraith
    Like the ghost, the wraith is a disembodied spirit haunting the
    material world. Unlike the ghost, it is not so easy to put to
    rest.

mob::xorn
    The xorn originates from the elemental plane of Earth. Its
    affinity to that element allows it to easily pass through walls in
    this plane.

mob::yeti
    Native to the peaks of tall mountains, the yeti can also
    apparently be found lurking in dungeons.

mob::skeleton captain
    The chief of a skeleton army, the skeleton captain takes
    considerable force to destroy. In the meantime, beware of its
    powerful arrows and deadly sword.

mob::evil demon boss
    The chief demon of this dungeon. Surely slaying him will trigger the
    victory conditions, letting you finally free yourself from this endless
    cycle of saving and restoring!
